When I’m not busy building websites, I’m playing softball. When one of the local softball clubs, Tat 2 Dragons, approached me to become a sponsor and build a website for them, I got to mix my two passions of softball and websites.
After talking to the committee and finding out what they wanted the club website to have, we decided to add some key features that are essential to a sports website design such as a game draws and results section, a photo gallery to showcase the club members playing the game, a blog so people can keep up to date with the latest news about the club, an events calendar which showcases all the events the club is involved with (e.g game days, fundraising events, presentation nights) and member profiles so everyone can get to know each other.
The club already had a logo, colour scheme (red and black) and font that they have used for their team uniforms so we used those elements when designing the website. Black and red are very heavy colours so we used a lot of white in the design to lighten it up. When we presented the website concept to the Tat-2 Dragons committee, they were very happy with the sports website design so we could start the website development and incorporate all the features into their new website. Their website is now ready for the club members to use for the upcoming softball season.
